Whosyourguest.com is a travel website published by Megan Williams. While I try to ensure that all information in my own articles is accurate at the time of writing, readers should take their own steps to verify this information where it is important to them. For clarity and to comply with advertising guidelines and regulations I have listed below different types of hosted or sponsored content and how they are disclosed.
On this website I accept paid advertising that appears within articles and other areas of the site. I endeavour to ensure that any advertising that appears on Whosyourguest.com is relevant and family friendly. Whosyourguest.com is not responsible for the content of external websites that may advertise or be mentioned on this site, but if you have any concerns please about such websites, please let me know.
Please note: I no longer accept Guest Posts
In the past I have accepted Guest posts written by other travel writers or travel bloggers which were posted free of charge on this site. In the case of guest posts, the views in these articles are those of the guest writer, so readers should take their own steps to verify any information that is important to them. Guest posts are clearly marked as such and normally have the name and bio of the writer.
Please note: I no longer accept Sponsored Posts or Sponsored links
Sponsored articles are articles that I have been paid to publish in the past by commercial travel companies, normally written by Megan. Sponsored articles are always disclosed at the bottom of the article using wording such as This article is sponsored by… and a link is given to this page for further detailed information.
The information about the advertiser with a link to their website is included in the article, for those readers who wish to follow this up.
HOSTED TRAVEL AND PRESS TRIPS
I sometimes accept complimentary stays in hotels, meals and trips to various destinations in order to extend my travel opportunities and to enable me to write about these travel experiences for the benefit of my readers. If I have been provided with a hotel stay, trip or other experience on a complimentary basis, this is disclosed at the end of the article with words such as I was hosted by… and a link is given to this page for further detailed information. I may also use the hashtag #hosted or #press trip on social media. This indicates that I was provided with the experience on a complimentary basis but was not paid.
I only accept such offers for places that I feel I will enjoy or my readers will be interested in, but in any case, my review will be honest and balanced and will not be influenced by whether or not I have been offered a complimentary stay. If nothing is mentioned in a review you can assume that I funded my visit myself.
I occasionally post reviews of hotels or other attractions on other public travel review sites, but only in cases where I have paid for the experience myself and not been sponsored.
SPONSORED TRAVEL AND CONTENT
In some cases I work with travel organisations and businesses on larger projects where I am compensated for my time in creating content, as well as receiving the experience on a complimentary basis. This will be disclosed at the end of the article with words such as This trip was sponsored by … and a link is given to this page for further detailed information. This indicates that I was paid for creating the content or delivering the project. I may also use the hashtag #ad on social media. This indicates that I was paid to create the content or project.
PRODUCT REVIEWS AND GIVEAWAYS
I sometimes write reviews of travel products, create giveaways or promote competitions. In some cases I am compensated for my time in creating this kind of content, but my review will always be honest and balanced regardless of whether I am working on a commercial basis. I will disclose at the bottom of the article the nature of the commercial arrangement, for instance whether I was sponsored (paid) to create the content or whether I was only given a sample for the purposes of the review..
